Health Business Analyst - Pharmacy Analytics
The Health Business Analyst within the Commercial Pharmacy Analytics team will assist in a diverse range of analytical projects with a focus on targeting, investigating and quantifying cost and utilization drivers within pharmacy claims data. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, with a combination of pharmacy data experience (e.g., knowledge of therapeutic drug classes, formulary concepts, manufacturer rebates and industry drug trends, etc.), great communication skills and a natural curiosity to understand health insurance informatics.
The Skills You Bring:- Analyze pharmacy claims, authorization and/or formulary data to identify areas of opportunity and provide analyses, conclusions and recommendations in support of Pharmacy business stakeholders
- Monitor and evaluate pharmacy patterns, costs and trends as they relate to member utilization of prescription drugs and pharmacy program initiatives and outcomes
- Assist in the evaluation of pharmacy program ROI and cost savings using analytical methods and techniques
- Investigate and discover areas of opportunity and provide analyses and recommendations to Pharmacy business team stakeholders
- Produce basic spreadsheets, documents and presentations that are well-documented and easy to follow (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau)
- Modify existing programs and write basic SAS, SQL or R programs for data extraction
- Proactively seeks training and builds knowledge/experience of technical tools, coding languages and data sources
Required Skills:- 2+ years related analytical work experience with a focus in the pharmacy industry or equivalent combination of transferable experience and education
- Master's degree in relevant filed can be substituted for work experience requirement.
- Bachelor's degree required
- Experience with analytics and inferential statistics.
- Experience writing SQL/SAS/R code or related code
- Working knowledge of pharmacy claims data and their nomenclatures, including NDC, AWP, GPI, WAC, J Codes
Preferred Skills:- Bachelor's degree Business Analytics, Statistics, Data Science, Health Economics or similar program
- Master's degree in a related field
- Experience with pharmacy formulary evaluation and analysis
- Experience with Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs)
