At BNY Mellon: Portfolio Accounting and Reconciliations are the centerpieces of our service model to maintain our clients record. We utilize various reconciliations to enable consistent data to be available to our clients' front office investment management process. Role Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and resolve cash and position breaks against custodians and prime brokers.
  • Research reconciliation differences with other middle office teams, custodians and prime brokers and work urgently to drive to solution.
  • Perform related duties as assigned and ensure deadlines/deliverables are met in accordance with the internal and client SLAs.
  • Perform general ledger duties such as research, client onboarding and offboarding, posting contributions, withdrawals, interest, taxes and fees.
  • Get involved on projects to increase efficiency and decrease risk.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholder to resolve/escalate queries/issues.
  • Review operating procedures and ensure they are followed while performing tasks/processes.
  • Maintain specific knowledge and skills that are essential in performing the role effectively.
  • Applies expertise and judgement in providing quality, and occasionally complex client service and support to internal and external clients on a daily basis, including phone interaction, problem resolution, transaction processing (i.e., STP, manual), reconciliations and accounting services, and updates to client accounts in a timely manner.
  • Performs a variety of operational tasks in a product or functional area, including processing updates to client accounts or company records and interpreting and handling exceptions. Investigates and corrects errors in client accounts.
  • Conducts independent analysis and policy interpretation. Responsible for reconciliations, including reconciling cash breaks, position differences, and gathering and compiling data.
  • May review and check work of other Client Processing Support staff and help resolve escalated issues.

Candidate Qualification and Qualities:

  • 1-2 years of total work experience preferred.
  • High school/secondary school or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Bachelors degree a plus.
  • Financial Services industry background preferred.
  • Interested in obtaining a basic understanding of financial products and accounting principles.
  • Focused on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Self-motivated and proactive team player who takes ownership and accountability.
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Excel.
