Versar is currently looking for a qualified Highway Maintenance Technician to fill a full-time role based in the Daytona Beach, FL area. The position is responsible for performing general maintenance of the highway maintenance projects assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Cleans and grades ditches, drainage structures, highway road shoulders, slopes
• Repair work including, but not limited to, repair of fences, sign repair, litter debris removal, and other highway maintenance activities to include emergency response
• Use all equipment safely
• Drive standard shift vehicles
• Completes landscape maintenance duties such a mowing, chemical and fertilizer application, weed control, spring clean-up, fall clean-up, trimming and pruning
• Operates a variety of mechanical equipment, including but not limited to, bed edgers, commercial mowers (ZTRs and possible bush hog), blowers, dump trailers, chain saw, and line trimmers
• Care for equipment and notifies management of needed repairs

Requirements:

• 18+ years of age
• One year of highway maintenance or construction skills is required
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must have a valid driver's license; CDL license preferred
• Must be able to effectively communicate with managers and coworkers in English
• Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
• Ability to work along local roadways, interstates, and or/highways with commuter traffic passing by at varying rates of speed
• Obtain MOT certificate (coursework and certification paid for by LBS)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly
• Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time
• Possess good oral and written communication skills
• Willingness to work multiple shifts and varying hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime
• Successful results of pre-employment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen
• Must have transportation to and from Company office
• Be able to drive manual transmission truck
• Be able to comply with Company Drug and Alcohol Policy
• Must be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date
