Office of Student Financial Assistance:

The Office of Student Financial Assistance, a unit within Student Services and Well-Being, is dedicated to supporting UCF's mission and goals through the efficient delivery of student aid. The Office provides UCF students with a comprehensive offering of financial assistance options to support student success and the attainment of a university degree.

The Opportunity:

This position is a coordinator, responsible for coordination and supervision of Professional Judgment (PJ) to include budget adjustments, FAFSA (ISIR elements) adjustments, and dependency overrides, along with Satisfactory Academic Progress (as needed). Coordinates the PJ process to include PeopleSoft updates.

This position/classification may be moved at management's discretion within the SSWB division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Sr. Vice President of Student Success and Well-Being or his/her designee.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for evaluating appeals (PJ, budget adjustments, dependency overrides).

  • Reviews PJ appeal applications, makes appropriate award adjustments, and notifies the student of the results.

  • Coordinates and monitors decisions and actions in PeopleSoft, ensuring all adjustments and data updates are processed efficiently.

  • Establishes and amends business processes within PeopleSoft to track and manage student data appropriately.

  • Evaluates and monitors quality assurance and compliance with regulations within PeopleSoft.

  • Coordinates with other staff in establishing and revising business processes as needed within PeopleSoft.

  • Assists in the Satisfactory Academic Progress processes.

  • Advises and counsels students and parents regarding the financial aid process.

  • Analyzes and evaluates students' financial needs.

  • Advises on availability and sources of financial assistance including Pell Grant, Campus-based aid, Stafford loan, scholarships, and other programs.

  • Interprets to students the policies, the processes, and the regulations pertaining to financial aid and all aid programs.

  • Counseling occurs by telephone, through personal interviews, and email communications.

  • Serves as a back-up/alternate for the university Fee Appeals committee.

  • Attends professional workshops, meetings, and training sessions to assure adequate professional development and keep abreast of current rules and regulations.

  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

  • Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's and 2+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to .

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing.

  • Ability to counsel and advise students.

  • Knowledge of basic financial aid program requirements.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Knowledge of basic keyboard skills.

  • Proficient in Excel.
