The Opportunity

The Academic Health Sciences Center is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant l to join their team. The Certified Medical Assistant l is responsible for performing physician support services to ensure the care of patients under the oversight of a licensed Physician. Certified Medical Assistant l will assist in other areas to meet the needs of the Clinic.

Responsibilities:

  • Take and record vital signs and statistics on all patients.

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records.

  • Room patient via E.M.R. for provider visit.

  • Assist provider with physical exam and treatments; assist with surgical procedures as needed.

  • Ensure appropriate follow-up care after the provider visit.

  • Assist with patient care in primary care, Behavioral Health as needed.

  • Answer telephones as directed by the RN and providers.

  • Assist in specialty clinics as directed by RN supervisor.

  • Administer medications and immunizations as directed.

  • Maintain Infection control standards.

  • Stocks until clinical areas.

  • Keep supplies up to date.

  • Observe OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standards and Universal procedures.

  • Check fax equipment for refill requests and test results.

  • Assist with auto clave/sterilization as needed.

  • Complete required University and SHS annual training and competencies.

  • Complete education necessary to maintain certification.

  • Responsible for fulfilling all COVID-related activities and any other duties as determined by the Nurse Manager/or Designee to meet the needs of SHS.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience. Must be certified as a medical assistant.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ambulatory care experience.

  • Experience working with Electronic Health Record systems.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday within the hours of 8:00am - 6:30pm with occasional Saturdays, 10:00am - 3:00pm (8 hour shifts/40 hours per week). Hours are subject to change due to operational needs, special projects, and emergencies.
