Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early Career Water Resources Engineer or Scientist in our Jacksonville, Orlando or Gainesville, FL office. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations while solving our clients' water resources challenges and to develop experience related to hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, geospatial data analysis, and reporting, while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling;
  • Watershed and stormwater management design and analysis;
  • Water quality assessments;
  • Drainage design and permitting;
  • Floodplain mapping and flood protection designs;
  • Data management, analysis, and visualization;
  • Reviewing state and federal regulations & permits pertaining to surface water;
  • Fieldwork such as site visits/field operations oversight, stormwater infrastructure inventories and surface water sampling;
  • Water resources sustainability and resiliency planning; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, calculations, drawings, tables, figures, specifications, and proposals.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, water resources, or biosystems engineering, environmental science or similar. (required)
  • Advanced degree in water resources engineering. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Prior research or professional experience with surface water/H&H modeling. (preferred)
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (required)
  • Certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT). (preferred)
  • 0 to 2 years of professional experience. (preferred)
  • Experience with modeling software such as ICPR, SWMM, or HEC-RAS. (preferred)
  • Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
