Acuity International is currently seeking a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) specializing in Emergency Medicine to support our Middle East program.

The CMO will be assigned to deliver health care and treat patients in a small austere medical/trauma hospital. The CMO reports directly to the onsite program manager and the program's primary MRO to Sallyport leadership.

They clinically supervise the PA/NP, surgeon, anesthesia, and local physicians. In addition is responsible for direct oversight of the Emergency Medical Service (EMS), laboratory, pharmacy, and radiology.

Location: Deploying to Iraq

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all physicians (including surgeons), mid-level providers, dentists, and pharmacist.
  • Provides strategic direction for medical staff.
  • Serves as clinical leader for the organization providing support and education for other clinical leaders.
  • Provides oversight and coordination of medical evacuations (ground and air) both within and out of Iraq.
  • Establishes the strategic direction for physician services programs to meet short-term advisory goals and deliver on long-term goals.
  • Communicates the clinical vision so the department and employees understand how they relate to the vision and values of the organization.
  • Provides direct leadership, oversight, and accountability for the operational effectiveness of the physician services program.
  • Own and report on metrics to measure the impact of physician services.
  • Approve medical practice procedures and policies, guidelines, and SOPs.
  • Provide advice on the availability of medical equipment.
  • Assists in planning for the development of new medical services.
  • Provides counsel in personnel matters relating to the clinical staff.
  • Review results of patient satisfaction surveys.
  • Ensures periodic review of practice management functions.
  • Review patient complaints.
  • Provide medical consultation as needed.
  • Provide direct patient care in accordance with the scope as outlined in the physician job description for AFAB.
  • Participate in the development and administration of policies.
  • Participate in strategic planning.
  • Participate in the development and review of clinical protocols.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of training and educational programs for healthcare personnel in theater.
  • Represent AFAB Hospital in the Pharmacy & Therapeutics and the Quality Management committees held at the main CONUS office.
  • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
  • Provide Medical Oversight and care in Mass Casualty Exercises/Events.
  • Assures all Health Care Providers (HCPs) will document care delivered and follow-up care required.
  • All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles, and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity is recognized.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduated from an approved medical school in the United States or Canada with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.). Approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation or, a Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States.
  • This accreditation may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).
  • Maintain board certificationin Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Internal Medicine.
  • Maintain a current US State Medical License.
  • Certifications in Advance Life Support (ACLS), Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Medical Support Staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least six months of the past year.
  • Required to have a driver's license from country of origin and ability to get an international driving permit.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver's License.
  • Must have a valid US Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
  • Requires a favorable security background check and drug screen.
  • Must sign an International Assignment Agreement (IAA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the IAA.
  • Must be current in all required certifications.
  • Shall attend a Pre-deployment Counter Terrorism training course prior to deployment
  • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.
  • Shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs and the Acuity Medical Management Systems software.
  • A normal workweek is established by the Program Manager.
  • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.
  • Safely performs duties and follows the corporate safety policy.
  • Participates in and supports safety meetings, training, and goals.
  • Ensures safe operating conditions within the area of responsibility.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be "medically and dentally fit" in accordance with Acuity's Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as dictated by the Client.
  • Work is normally performed in an office environment; travel in Iraq is required by surface or air.
  • The climate is desert-like, hot, and prone to dust storms.
