The position must conduct scientific studies focused on understanding and predicting entanglement risk and interactions of protected species (whales, sea turtles, dolphin) with pioneering ocean industries such as aquaculture and offshore wind. This position is located within the NOAA National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science's Marine Spatial Ecology Division, which works to provide scientific products supporting marine spatial planning and ecological and social science studies to support sustainable growth of the Blue Economy. This position will be responsible for executing projects as a full member of a research team or as an independent researcher under general direction and guidance on project objectives, limits, work plans, and conclusions. The position will be responsible for supporting the development of peer reviewed articles building on an existing body of science that utilizes entanglement simulation technology to predict and understand protected species interactions.
