Job Summary and Responsibilities

Summary:

The Outside Plant Field Inspector is present on fiber optic construction projects to ensure that the fiber cable is being constructed properly and meeting the project requirements. The field staff will coordinate the various activities on the project and also take detailed field records of the installed fiber cable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

    OSP Fiber Planners and Field Inspectors route and determine fiber placement
  • Running a locator & rodder to identify proper conduit placement & depths
  • Reviewing permits and ROW
  • Overall supervision and project management
  • Inspecting quality and recording field records
  • OSP field inspector work is split between in office and out in the field work

SAFETY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Industry Consensus Standards
    • KGPCo Injury and Illness Prevention Program Manual
  • Participate in job site safety/hazard analysis

  • Valid US Driver's license
  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings and diagrams for fiber construction
  • Locator knowledge and experience
  • Fiber and outside plant knowledge
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Must be able to sit for periods of time and be able to perform physical activities such as bending, standing, climbing and walking in construction areas
