Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Role Overview:

In this role you will have the opportunity to deliver innovative solutions by participating in a variety of programs in support of Exxelia USA, Inc. This will include understanding and driving detailed testing plans, use of the test equipment, testing processes, procedures, and supporting standards. The ideal Candidate is a self-starter, a fast learner, a good communicator (both orally and in writing) responsible, possesses initiative, and is eager for new discoveries. As a team leader, your example to the QA Inspection Group should always reflect exemplary dedication, accountability, and a good work ethic.

  • Leads a test team on special projects and military maintenance programs.
  • Actively collaborates with suppliers to ensure their quality work meets company standards.
  • Collaborates with Sourcing and Procurement on delivery commitments and other business needs.
  • Provides technical direction and evaluates production quality, providing support as needed.
  • Maintains all training records and provides the same when needed.
  • Participates in cross training sessions to ensure company policies are followed.
  • Participates in New Hire Orientation.
  • Works closely with engineering and production leaders to strategize on deliver approach and dependency management.
  • Supports production in any way necessary.
  • Executes FAI, Internal Audits, and other programs as needed.
  • Under the lead of the QA Manager: Works on the development, implementation, and strict adherence to a quality program. Establishes in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods and devising testing methods and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the QA Manager, Sourcing, and Procurement to establish raw material standards by studying manufacturing and engineering requirements, participating in discussion with suppliers, and planning testing methods and procedures.
  • Participates in scheduling and performing quality audits in compliance with our AS9100 certification. Develops corrective action plans an ensure timely resolution of findings.
  • Reviews, conducts, updates, and manages new and existing First Article of Inspection (FAIs).
  • Use available AS9100 FAI generating software and customer designed Excel formats for FAIR.
  • Coordinates with management to determine schedule, requirements, and specific needs for in-process inspections.
  • Oversees Final Inspection Department to validate testing and inspection data; maintain all certifications.
  • Obtains DPRV certificate and serves as a DQR Inspector on behalf of our customers.
  • Participates in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and reviews timely disposition of all expired/damaged materials within proper databases.
  • Supports team with knowledge, training, and ability to use inspection tools, and measuring and test equipment.
  • Supports and actively participates in root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of product issues.
  • Supervises the Orbital/Space testing department, the MIL maintenance testing area, and the Film Capacitor Quality Clinic.
  • Prepares KPI's and reports required by regulatory agencies and to support the quality function.
  • Prepares reports and other documentation required by regulatory agencies, and to support the quality function.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • US Person or Permanent Residency Required due to ITAR compliance.
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Discipline.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in a quality engineering role or similar.
  • Experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
  • Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills.
  • Sound IT, math, business, and technical skills.
  • Strong investigative and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills combined with the ability to delegate.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully and in consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting, sitting, feeling, and visual acuity.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
