Health Sciences Library:

The Harriet F. Ginsburg Health Sciences Library at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine is a 98% digital library located in Lake Nona, Florida. We are approximately 20 miles from the UCF main campus. Our library's mission is to provide College of Medicine students, staff, faculty, and community with evidence-based information resources using the latest innovative technology, and to foster a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all library users by providing excellent customer service

The Opportunity:

The Library Technical Assistant will assist with a variety of projects within the library, including reference, scholarly communications, electronic resources, and collection development. This opportunity is located at the Harriet F. Ginsburg Health Sciences Library located at UCF - College of Medicine in Lake Nona.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides individual instruction on the use of online catalog, and the College of Medicine website, directing patrons to the electronic resources available through the Health Sciences Library.

  • Instructs users in the use of library systems and equipment and provide general information on the use of library facilities and services.

  • Keeps the supervisor informed about the overall status of the security of the library space and materials.

  • Provide basic reference services to library patrons including answering questions on the use of library resources, equipment, and apps from library users in person, via email or phone.

  • Assists with circulation of books and materials using the online Alma circulation system.

  • Creates and maintains Library Guides, as directed by supervisor.

  • Following university guidelines for surplus, removes materials from the library collection.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to .

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's degree in Library and Information Science/Studies

  • Prior experience in a public library, academic library, hospital library, or school media center.

  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.).

  • Comfortable using computers, laptops, iPads, and other technology.
