As part of a diverse and hardworking team of experts you will directly support program execution for Process Engineering for all Blue Origin products. We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineering Manager for the Cable and Harness Shop. You will work with innovative processes for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of manufacturing engineering. Day to day responsibilities will include the Manufacturing Plan Development, managing all Work Order Authoring, and provide Mentoring and Career Path Development to your enrolled employees. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Enable the success of a team comprised of hard-working Manufacturing Process Engineers and Planners, providing mentoring, guidance, and support to all direct reports.

  • Perform capacity analysis, evaluate staffing requirements, and hire strong candidates to build a team consistent with our leadership principles.

  • Apply robust, consistent, and reliable engineering fundamentals and processes to ensure the highest quality of manufacturing engineering.

  • Review and understand companywide processes and command media to ensure proper compliance.

  • Define how to prepare hardware for test, qualification, and flight.

  • Drive research and development hardware into a repeatable production product

  • Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods (or refine existing) to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule.

  • Closely manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire fabrication process

  • Perform engineering drawing review and drive manufacturability into designs.

  • Develop process control measures and evaluation through statistical analysis.

  • Define and support repair and rework activities.

  • Design, procure, install, and integrate custom manufacturing equipment.

  • Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.

  • Design proper material handling and packaging to protect hardware throughout the fabrication and test process.

  • Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire build and test process.

  • Ensures the consistent application and proper communication with production operations of requirements to support fabrication needs, including schedule, capacity planning, equipment, facilities and infrastructure.

  • Perform and lead others in the development of specific project plans, managing risks, tracking, reporting on status, and resolving blocking issues.

  • Work independently toward long-range objectives without appreciable direction and resolve technical objectives of assignments to develop approaches to solutions.

  • Work closely with your customer, the production work center leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university.

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering

  • Project management experience including identification of scope, project planning, and scheduling within an R&D or start-up environment

  • Experience working in a product design or manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with assembly and integration of launch vehicles across a range of launch vehicle subsystems including avionics, fluids, and mechanical

  • Aerospace/Launch vehicle experience.

  • Experience with safety critical systems.

  • Experience with mentorship of engineers in the areas of career development, technical skills, and project management

  • Extremely customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skills

  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Aerospace wiring harness fabrication experience to include transition to semi or full automation

  • Experience establishing and transition processes from initial Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase to full rate production (FRP)

  • Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it

  • 3+ years technical leadership experience

  • General proficiency with CAD.

  • General proficiency with GD&T
