As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will develop, implement, and qualify novel manufacturing processes for Blue Origin's space systems. As an integral team member, you will strengthen the manufacturing process to accelerate the pace of production.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide development, verification, and control definition for manufacturing operations across multiple Blue Origin space systems
  • Work in a cross functional environment to support vehicle integration solutions
  • Perform proof-of-concept testing for first time operations, including integration simulation
  • Prepare work centers for production operations
  • Support build operations on the manufacturing floor
  • Develop and qualify new manufacturing tools, technologies, and processes
  • Build and maintain accurate process documentation, including standard operating procedures and work instructions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace engineering or equivalent technical field
  • 5+ years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with project management skills who can deliver results while maintaining technical, schedule, and cost requirements
  • Proven experience developing new manufacturing processes and refining existing ones.
  • Experience developing process control definitions through engineering drawings and specifications for manufacturing
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices, general fabrication methods, design for manufacturing, lean manufacturing, six sigma, and quality control processes
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Experience working across organizations, collaboratively, and in small teams on fast-paced projects
  • Ability to comfortably work in a rapidly changing ambiguous environment
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in mechanical, aerospace, or other related engineering disciplines
  • Knowledge of hardware manufacturing processes (i.e. castings, forgings, additively manufactured components, welding, machining, cleaning, non-destructive testing methods, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, working with large assemblies, etc.)
  • Solid understanding and applied experiences in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 QM System and/or related quality systems and programs
  • General proficiency with CAD.
