College of Community Innovation and Education:

Toni Jennings Exceptional Education Institute (TJEEI) is dedicated to preparing and retaining exceptional student education teachers and related professional educators who serve children and adults with special needs. In collaboration with Central Florida partners, TJEEI provides families of children with disabilities, UCF faculty and students, and educators access to current information, resources and opportunities. Through teaching and research clinics, UCF faculty and students associated with the institute offer services to students with disabilities and their families focused on assessment, behavior, reading, mathematics and community counseling.

The Opportunity:

The Unlimited Potential Community Schools (UPCS) Program Director oversees the planning, development and delivery of university assisted community school strategies and support services. With a focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development and engagement, the Sustainability Director facilitates the achievement of UPCS outcomes in terms of improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities. Overall, the Program Director contributes to a high-performance culture by demonstrating project values and providing quality results within the areas of proactive behavioral health, child welfare management, community school and early childhood solutions for children and families.

This is a Contract and Grant (C&G) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, development, and implementation of UPCS strategies and support services that facilitate the achievement of exceptional outcomes in improved student learning, stronger families, and healthier communities.

  • Convene and participate in regional UPCS Steering Committee.

  • Collaborate with the project to adhere to best financial and stewardship practices as outlined by university and grantor principles.

  • Submit an annual performance report demonstrating project progress in meeting approved project objectives, return on investment, in addition to a final performance report.

  • Administer UPCS grant, partnership, and initiative.

  • Hire and supervise a UPCS Programs Coordinator to connect with university resources across the University campus which involves multiple programs and departments to meet the needs of School District students to support their education, health and mental wellness, economic needs, employability, and overall wellbeing.

  • Partner with School District and support UPCS sites to recruit stakeholders, identify resources, and plan mobilization.

  • Liaise and align with UCF Center for Community Schools for support in technical assistance, training and development, assessment and evaluation, contracts and grants, and certification efforts for each UACS site.

  • Increase knowledge and skills related to UPCS through participation in the Training Center efforts.

  • Commit to participate, with reasonable consistency, in technical assistance coaching, learning exchanges, and institutes for improved alignment to community school best practices.

  • Provide practice-based expertise and data from stakeholders to share with the training center and project leadership as part of a continuous improvement cycle.

  • Execute annual planning grant application and award process to implement and on-board new UPCS sites in partner School Districts.

  • Work with partners to increase student success measures (attendance, behavior, performance) through allocation of university resources, community partners, and School District assistance.

  • Work with partners to build capacity for early learning efforts through allocation of university resources, community partners, and School District assistance.

  • Membership and participation on the UPCS Steering Committee.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Education or related field.

  • Experience with externally funded grants.

  • Experience with community partnership schools.

  • Experience leading complex teams.
