Position Summary

The Business Services Specialist supports the Credit Union's business banking activities. The incumbent assists with various aspects of business accounts and loans, to include document collection/preparation and acts as a liaison between the member, management, and partners to ensure a seamless experience. The Business Services Specialist will open and service business accounts, assist with problem resolution of business relationships, and perform various loan maintenance activities. The incumbent will understand the various business products and services offered by the Credit Union.

Primary Responsibilities
    Serves as an operational resource for the credit union pertaining to business accounts and business lending activities. Assists with system setup and works with internal business partners to verify operations are established to support business member needs.
  1. Maintains knowledge of business entity types and corresponding documentation to verify accounts/loans are opened, maintained, and serviced appropriately.
  2. Opens business accounts including gathering and reviewing required documents, completes due diligence questionnaires, on-boards new accounts into the core system and completes business account cards and agreements.
  3. Acts as a relationship point of contact for business members. Answers questions, explains products/services and resolves issues. Deepens member relationships and ensures retention through superior service.
  4. Provides operational guidance to branch staff in support of business accounts and business lending activities. Answers questions, provides training, and assists with procedure manuals.
  5. Works with Credit Union partners and the business member to gather all required documents pertaining to loan requests, loan closing documentation and helps to coordinate loan closings, if needed.
  6. Prepares month-end reports along with any other correspondence as needed.
  7. Works with management to create strategies to deepen business member relationships. Recommends new products/services and assists with implementation.
  8. Maintains knowledge of regulatory standards and practices to ensure operational compliance. Stays abreast of changes to implement updates or correct any deficiencies.
  9. Assists with examiner/auditor requests and/or inquiries pertaining to business lending and deposit activities.
  10. Assists with maintaining loan files.
Other Responsibilities
  1. Develops, maintains, and demonstrates a working knowledge of Credit Union standards, policies, procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal government rules.
  2. Follows and ensures compliance with all Launch policies and procedures.
  3. Completes assigned compliance training in a timely manner.
  4. Attends meetings and training sessions as required.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required
  1. Minimum of three years of related business operations experience in the financial services industry, preferably in a credit union or bank.
  2. Knowledge of treasury management, digital services, and business credit cards is beneficial but not required.
  3. High school diploma or GED required.
  4. Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish, and draw valid conclusions, and to recommend practical solutions.
  6. Ability to contribute to multiple projects with minimal direction/supervision, and the ability to meet deadlines.
  7. Knowledge of inter-dependencies amongst financial services functions.
  8. Ability to champion and support best-in-class member service efforts.
  9. Ability to effectively collaborate with others and accept challenging assignments.
  10. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
